By David Wilson PC-DOS 2000 is a minor upgrade to PC-DOS 7.0, the version that came out as Windows 95 was released. This version is Y2K compliant and supports the new Euro currency symbol. It comes with many features not associated with DOS such as pen support and PCMCIA support. It also comes with a GUI backup program, Stacker 4.0, IBM antivirus, REXX programming and a plethora of utilities. Runs on anything from an 8088 upwards. I use it on my laptop with Windows for Workgroups 3.11. Even though it's a 486 I find it faster than the Pentium laptops my friends have that are running Win9x or WinME. I credit the speed in part to PC-DOS 2000. After 17 years of tweaks and improvements to DOS, PC-DOS 2000 is honed for speed and minimal memory usage. And it's just about perfect.
