Bellman Mino Digital Personal Amplifier Review

The Mino appears to be one of the few assistive hearing devices on the market that is supposed to supplement hearing aids. It seems to do an OK job of amplifying, but if you are a moderate to severe hearing loss, you will find that it does not amplify well. The sound, whether music or voice, is rather tinny making it hard to understand. Turning the amplification to max appears to result in feedback. It does work with a neckloop and T-coil equipped hearing aid, but the potential user should be aware that there is a significant hum when you are around some devices, especially fluorescent light. The Microset (purchased separately) did not work well in my opinion. In fact it had more feedback and a significantly lower amplification that even with just a simple set of ear buds. In general, I am not impressed with this device, especially considering the cost. Perhaps it is an unrealistic expectation, but one would hope there would be more and better devices on the market to give added support to hearing aid users.
