CE Labs SW204HD 4x2 Matrix A/V Switcher Review

I hate to even leave this review as I've become a fan of CE Labs equipment, but it is what it is. This is a 4x2 matrix switcher, meaning that there are 4 inputs and 2 outputs, and that you can select any of the 4 inputs on each of the 2 outputs. This was purchased for a church client of mine, and while it works ok, there are definitely better switchers out there.

For starters, hooking it up was easy. No issues (which there wouldn't be any issues expected - it's all RCA jacks). However, controlling it is another issue in itself.

When switching between video sources, there is a slight delay and flicker on the screen. Since this was being used in a live production environment, that's a big deal for us. Plus, there is no way to select a specific input for the outputs. You have to press the input button to manually scroll through the inputs to get to the one you want to be on. The remote is weak at best - we have to be within about 2 feet for it to work. And finally, the input button for output 1 was pushed so far inside the unit that we could barely operate it.

We're keeping it as a backup unit, however we ended up replacing it with Cables To Go 40697 6x2 Component Video, Stereo Audio and TOSLINK Digital Audio Matrix Selector Switch (Black), which ended up being a far better unit for a much lower price.
